| The motives range from the semi-figurative to the abstract. Some of the elements, parts of motives or concepts are "taken" from others - paintings that has given me meaning and which I have recreated and transformed into my own expression. That is not unusual. Kenneth Blom, an artist who has had great success in London, recently said"I steal, loan and sample". But the majority of my paintings are of course created solely as a result of own inspiration, special situations, experiences and drives. Some are quite colorful - others are more minimalistic. My latest works are more expressive compared with my earlier paintings - they have more energy, dynamics and movement. The source of inspiration here is fragments of visions and impressions from dreams. The intention is not interpreting, but transfering the fresh, impulsive and apparently authentic experiences dreams give us the sense of having had and lived. I am using a new technique when creating what becomes a floating background and a contrast to the more explosive that I paint in another dimension on the surface. I believe that everybody has the creative talent that is needed in order to go wild with brushes on white canvas. For many, it is a matter of trying to reach some of the unused resources within. My painting qualifications have improved over a short period of time; The more you paint - the better you get, which obviously applies to most of the things in life. After having worked as a senior manager for many years in private enterprises with marketing, advertising and brand building, I was ready to start challenging my creative abilities. It was easy to replace the office dress code with worn out jeans. What you like to paint, or to glance at and to live with - hanging on the wall in your home, is a matter of difference in taste - which is clearly subjective. One doesn't have to value art on a scale from good to bad. There are inevitably a great many artists that master techniques and have skills that represent levels I will never reach. Artists that create totally new forms of shapes and expressions. But if one doesn't have the ambition to become a new Giacometti, a Caravaggio, a Munch or a Bjarne Melgaard, one may consider art as one of several elements that we like to have in our surroundings - that we identify ourselves with and that gives us meaning - like a designer's chair or the literature and music that we appreciate. The eye will always look for something familiar, and different people will inevitably see different things. There are paintings that appeal to some - and disgust others. Or the painting simply doesn't move your emotions at all, but it matches the sofa. In my opinion, the important thing is that there are no rules - that the enjoyment connected to "art" is that you can do whatever you feel like; The feeling of joy when one color abruptly changes in the encounter with another. I believe that we are given strength and energy through colors - that colors are necessary in our lives. I have been told that one should find, develop and stick to one technique or theme - but trying out different styles is one of the things that makes painting so exciting! I experiment with different expressions, mediums and means of paint. Every painting is a part of the total process, each painting adds new learning. Painting can be a good form of therapy as well; both because you during the process work with the feelings connected to a particular situation or state of mind - and also because the resulting work has given the feelings a visible expression. My object of having this web site, is to combine my love for painting with selling some. Here (Paintings) you can take a look at some of the paintings that I have made - which are in different formats and techniques. Some of the pieces that have already been purchased will still be on this site - so that you can get an idea of what I am able to recreate - maybe just that particular object seems to be perfect on one of your walls? Do you have one or a couple of good photos of one that you love, I will very much like to make a painting/a collage of it - take a look at painting no. 81, 82, 88, 89, 93 and 94. | A brief presentation: Marianne Brodin Moe My husband and I Outside our home Wedding 2002 Collage - an example My favorite My favorite ll Last sold Last painted |
